Digital Lab Workshops

A
Digital Journey: From the Field to the Print
with Lewis Kemper
May 21-25
In this workshop we undertake the journey together under the guidance of Lewis
Kemper, who has been working with digital imaging for over a decade.
We start with our cameras, learning custom white balance, optimizing, and shooting
for HDR (high dynamic range). We spend time photographing the Santa Fe region's
unique landscape, architecture, and culture, accumulating a mini-portfolio of
images to work with. Then, in the digital lab, we learn how to make the best
use of our Raw files. The focus for the week is on finding the most efficient
methods for optimizing images with the goal of producing fine-art prints.
Also, the Digital
Workflow Intensive, a two-and-a-half day workshop that provides a wealth
of information, inspiration, and the taste of the weeklong workshop experience
will be offered April 27-29. This popular short course covers topics including
digital camera tools; Raw file format and image resolution; successful digital
capture; basic image adjustment; batch processing; and Web application features.
Also in the digital lab this spring:
Beginning
Photoshop with Brenda Kelley, May 7-11
Photoshop:
The Next Step with Genevieve Russell, May 14-18
Aperture
Workshop with Ellen Anon, June 1-2

Peru—Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu:
A Photographic and Cultural Exploration
with John Weiss
September 1-10, 2007
Peru is a fascinating mix of old and new. One
of the greatest civilizations ever known, we will
experience the proud heritage of the Quechua people
and their rulers, the Incas. We
will see farmers working mountain terraces build
over 2000 years ago, and churches that rise from
the stones of ancient Incan temples.
Traveling overland through the Sacred Valley, you
will discover uniquely special sites often missed
by the casual tourist. We'll explore both isolated
villages and lovely colonial cities. One of
the highlights of our tour will be the opportunity
to photograph in the Quechua market, where we'll
be captivated by the people, and the mixture of sounds
and bright clothing.
But perhaps the most spectacular part of our trip
takes place when we walk the ancient pathways of
Machu Picchu, where remarkable photography opportunities
await.
Group size is limited to 12. Land cost in Peru
is $3495. For complete information, please contact
Strabo International Tour Companyat 607-756-8676, or
call John Weiss at (410) 392-2929. Please mention
that youlearned about this opportunity in the Santa
Fe Workshops catalog. |
